On Saturday 13th November last year John Farnham took to the stage at the RACV Royal Pines Resort and wowed the 5,000 fans who came along to hear him sing again. Staging an event like this is all in a day’s work for Royal Pines Food & Beverage Operations Manager David Callaghan, but that’s not to say it’s an easy task!
A huge amount of planning went into staging the show and the one thing that nobody can control (the weather) played havoc with the arrangements right up until the last minute. But as a concert goer on the night you wouldn’t have known.
Working closely with David in the run-up to the concert was the team from Excel, who were supplying all of the event equipment, from marquees to interior fittings & lighting, furniture and cooking equipment and more. The changing weather forecasts meant that Glenn Burgess at Excel was being called into meeting sometimes at a moment’s notice to discuss last minute changes.
The final weather forecast for wind and rain on the night of the performance meant that facilities had to be scaled back from the original five marquees to just two, with rooms in the main building having to be used instead. Excel stepped in at short notice and were able to help David make these rooms equipped and suitable for the event.
“I cannot emphasise how helpful and attentive Glenn and his team were in our preparations for the concert. I have worked with Excel over many years for many reasons, not least their level of customer care and their expertise in their field. What’s more, for the excellent level of service they provide, I am pleased to say that we still always come in within budget.” says David.
